CERES Festival of Fava
Mark your calendars for an exciting day at CERES Joe’s Market Garden in Coburg, where we celebrate the mighty broad bean and its cultural significance in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine!

Join gardening expert Karen Sutherland for a Broad Bean Gardening Workshop, followed by delicious cooking demonstrations featuring traditional fava bean recipes. Don't miss live music from the Sanacori Trio playing Italian classics and fun activities like henna and face painting for both kids and adults!
U-Pick Broad Beans
Looking to harvest your own broad beans? We’ve got you covered with our U-Pick sessions happening throughout October at Joe's Market Garden:

- Saturday 26th October (Festival of Fava event day!)
- Saturday 2nd November
Time: 10am - 12pm
Cost: $10 per person
Get the full farm experience by hand-picking broad beans at Melbourne's oldest continuing market garden, where these beans have been cultivated since 1945!
CERES Bird Count Picnic
Love birds? Join us on Saturday 19th October 2024, 10:30am - 12:30pm, for the CERES Bird Count Picnic at Joe's Market Garden. Be part of Birdlife Australia's national bird count, and enjoy a relaxed morning filled with stalls from local artists, bird-themed crafts, and yummy treats from the Farm Gate.
Bird counting slots will run at 11am and 12pm. General entry is free, but you can also sign up for a guided bird walk or bird language workshop along Merri Creek.

Farm Gate Open Every Saturday
Before or after the events, pop by our Farm Gate from 9am - 1pm for freshly baked pastries, organic coffee, and delicious treats. You can also grab seasonal produce grown right on-site!
About CERES
CERES is a not-for-profit organisation with a mission to educate and inspire sustainable communities. Located in East Brunswick, CERES is a hub for organic gardening, sustainability workshops, and community activities. Our park offers plenty of green space, a market garden, and even a nursery & bookstore!
How to Get Here: We're easily accessible by bike or public transport, with the Merri Creek bike path running right alongside us. Find us at CERES Brunswick East, close to tram stops and train stations for a convenient day out in nature.
