When Holly McLaren moved to Venus Bay after leaving Melbourne and a career in travel as a result of the Global Pandemic, she thought hard about how to come up with a pandemic-proof and versatile business in the beautiful coastal location she now calls home.
The busy seaside town of Venus bay, with its spectacular untouched beach holiday location, was the key inspiration and idea for a mobile ice cream trailer. This sleepy community presents a great amount of opportunity to the tourism and hospitality industries, and currently has very little infrastructure or commercial businesses to attend to the booming new tourism on offer.
She signed up with Lift-Women, a crowdfunding and mentoring organisation which focuses on women and new entrepreneurial businesses opportunities. It was through this platform she connected with local ice cream producer Hilary Skelton, and her multi-award winning South Gippsland family owned company - Prom Coast Ice Cream.
Prom Coast Ice Cream supported Holly’s vision and also saw the need for more tangible and engaging food vendors in the area. It was a project that had been in the back of their minds also, and now presented itself with the time and drive to kick-start this new idea.
After many weeks of brainstorming and planning - ‘Trixie’ the first ever Mobile Ice Cream Trailer was purchased and Prom Coast Mobile Ice Cream transformed from a dream to a reality.
Prom Coast Mobile Ice Cream offers Prom Coast Ice Cream’s award-winning and widely renowned (and now nicknamed) ‘Trixie Cups’ in their classic flavour range of chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel ripple and boysenberry ripple ice cream as well as their dairy free raspberry sorbet.
Six classic milk-shake flavours make their debut in the flavours of chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel, coffee, strawberry and blue heaven, which all feature the same multi-award winning ice cream by Prom Coast Ice Cream.
But with the launch of Prom Coast Mobile Ice Cream, we are also proud to be introducing our brand new bespoke soft-serve, featuring chocolate and vanilla soft serve, served in delicious waffle cones or cups.
Trixie’s signature offering will be her ‘Magic Cones’.
A selection of three different flavour themes with handcrafted toppings such as ‘Mermaids Tail’: Colourful chocolate mermaid tails with fun glitter sprinkles. ‘Berry Crumble:’ local berry coulis with crunchie biscuit crumble and ‘Choc-Nut’: Decadent chocolate sauce with hazelnut and chocolate shards.
