A little about this Place....
As a lover of all things culinary, I have spent the last two decades in Victoria immersed in the food scene. My journey began humbly, scrubbing dishes in large catering companies, hotels, and even the famed Nandos. After my wife purchased a restaurant in the early 2000s, we transitioned into the world of catering, discovering the immense joy and satisfaction in feeding the masses.
But let me tell you, running a small family business means wearing many hats – heavy lifting, cleaning, cooking, taxes, and even dabbling in graphic design and photography. Before the pandemic, I found myself caught in the never-ending cycle of market shopping, van preparations, and back-to-back jobs every weekend, my body and mind both worn thin. The days all blurred together, spent feeding hungry groups of people without any thought of taking a break or making a change.
2020 provided an opportunity for reflection and gave me a chance to contemplate the direction of my life. It was then that the idea of starting a directory came to me, originally intended as a shameless self-promotion for my catering business. However, I soon realized that I could use this platform to showcase the work of my friends, fellow foodies, and the community of markets and festivals.
Getting information from my fellow foodies and crafties proved to be quite the challenge, but it only fueled my motivation. This website is a chance for me to expand my skill set, to explore the world of web design, and to dive into the creative process. It feels like a personal project, reminiscent of my time in Tafe or Uni.
I am excited to embark on this new journey from caterer to web designer and relish the thought of working from home. As I work on updating this site with pictures and posts from the many events and people I encounter, I invite you to join me on this adventure. And if you happen to come across any ads on the site, feel free to give them a click – every bit helps.
